Join the Re-conomy: Reuse Alliance Launches 2025 Campaign to Spark a Cultural Shift Towards Reuse

Petaluma, CA – Oct. 20 – Reuse Alliance is excited to announce the launch of its 2025 campaign, designed to transform the way families think about consumption. The initiative positions reuse as an act of empowerment, highlighting the benefits of creating a legacy of reuse.

At its core, the 2025 campaign is a cultural shift. It rejects the outdated idea that secondhand is second best and instead celebrates reuse as a smart economic choice. Every reused outfit, piece of furniture, or toy is not just an act of conservation, but represents money saved. Families who participate in reuse are not only saving dollars, but they are also sharing skills, building resilience and contributing to community wealth.

“The economic benefits are just one reason to practice reuse, but in these times they are a powerful incentive,”  says Phoebe Schenker, Executive Director of the Reuse Alliance. “By shopping secondhand, repairing your things and avoiding single use you can save money in the short term, and even more money in the long term all while investing more in what really matters - relationships, community, and self-reliance.”

The Reuse Alliance hopes to build on last year’s campaign ‘This is Reuse’ and expand the conversation nationwide. Success will be measured not just by awareness, but by whether families begin practicing reuse and see it as an everyday solution to reducing financial stress, while creating new traditions and prioritizing what really matters.

The campaign can be found on social media by following us @reusealliance and using the hashtags #JointheRe-conomy and #2025ReuseAwareness. Families and supporters are encouraged to share their own stories and examples of how reuse has made their lives more fun, affordable and connected.
