Happy Reuse Awareness Campaign
Think about how many times you’ve complimented someone on their shirt only to hear an enthusiastic, “Thanks! I thrifted it!” There’s pride in that answer. We’re proud when we find something affordable, something unique to us, and something that took a little effort to discover. There’s a story behind it, and stories give us something to connect over. That’s what reuse can do. Reuse gets us out into our communities, gives us a reason to work with our hands, helps us learn from one another, and reminds us that the things we already have can hold far more value than we realize.
So why is it important that we connect with each other, specifically through reuse? Because the benefits go far beyond keeping things out of the landfill. Learning how to mend a shirt, repair a lamp, or transform something old into something new gives us a tangible sense of accomplishment. We learn skills, build confidence, meet people, and create something we can actually see and hold. When people feel connected and empowered, they can bring that same energy back into their communities.
Designed by OneKind Creative, this year’s campaign explores how reuse fosters community, skill sharing, mental well-being, and resilience, while educating people about the four different kinds of reuse: reuse, repair, repurpose, and refill.
Take some time to explore the four joys of reuse and how you can get involved with your community.
